The Archaeological Park of Maipés is one of the most representative archaeological and aboriginal burial in Gran Canaria. The cemetery has almost 700 tombs and is located on mounds of volcanic material (malpaís) of 3000 years of antiquity.
The tombs reach eight meters in diameter and three meters in height. In its interior we can find vegetal fibers of reeds at the bottom and in the part superior they were decorated with several stones of colors, usually red or yellow.
