In his own words, Bar el Perola: «The only bar in the world where the customer is never right».
This charismatic bar in Agaete with more than 30 years of history is famous for its “botellines” (beer) and peanuts, although you can also find other dishes such as meatballs, potato omelette, “sancocho” (typical canary food )or salad, always with a great atmosphere.

2 months agoNot sure if this counts as an typical local restaurant but it sure was something special for me 😄 I took the special Cañarían dish, which is only served on Sundays and contains the “super food” of the island, gofi. Unfortunately the fish was not good for my taste, because it was extremely salty (maybe prepared from dried? fish). The potatoes and yam were a bit cold and the side salad (tomatoes and red onions) covered with salt. The waiter was sympathetic but the service was slow (fair to say the restaurant was quite full). Be aware that you cannot pay with card! Priced reasonably.

2 months ago32 euros for 2 plates of fried croquettes and one cold small tuna salad and two beers was a bit too expensive. But still ok

4 years agoGreat local tapas. Thanks to the local who tipped us on visiting and enjoy El Perola’s mother kitchen. The ropa vieja (chickpeas casserole), tuna croquettes and the meatballs were superb. The little bar is like going back 50 years ago but with charm from the owner (El Perolas) and a clean kitchen, not even mentioning the prices for all we asked. Worth going and enjoying the whole experience. Tip: stay ‘al fresco’, seating on the little stone benches outside the bar and feel the local life passing by.

a month agoFolkloric, terrible service, steep inclined terrace, no bar mats, no room inside! But no TV, or music no hypocrisy! LOVE IT!!! A must do! Att. Cash only
