Hermitage “Nuestra Señora de las Nieves”

This is such a pretty church in such a cute town. Haven’t seen it open yet so, can’t comment on the opening hours.The vibe of the town matches the landscape, along with the church.

Built in 1532 as a monastery, the Ermita de Nuestra Senora de las Nieves became the hermitage in the years that followed, but it was destroyed at the beginning of the 18th century. In 1717 the Hermitage was rebuilt by Cristóbal del Castillo, who has been considered the founder of the Hermitage ever since.

Collected and charming. Built at the beginning of the 16th century, it is worth going in, if it is open, to admire the altarpiece of the Virgen de Las Nieves. The contrast of the simple architecture against the volcanic rock is overwhelming. The red with which the dome of the Tower is painted. Inside there are many marine details as befits the place where it is located. It is a must if you go to Agaete.
